Gary Fisher Hifi Series
Introduced in 2007, Fisher's Hifi dual suspension series has received unanimous acclaim from the bicycle press. The September 2007 issue of Mountain Bike Action reported a shoot-out between the $1600 Hifi and other major brands, with the Hifi winning the number 1 spot as the best all-round dual suspension trail bike.
What works about the Hifi design? The 5 inches of travel is superbly balanced between front and back. It climbs like a mountain goat. It's stable under speed. It maneuvers great at slow speed. It's light. The suspension components are smooth.

*Genesis Geometry
Gary Fisher was one of the first to develop mountain bikes, and he is still the world's foremost mountain bike designer. His latest refinement on mountain bike design is Genesis geometry, which features a short rear end for superior traction, and a longer top tube and shorter stem for improved steering and responsiveness and for better fore-aft balance.
Short rear end: The seat stay (the tube that is the lowest and most rearward--connecting to the rear wheel) is about a half inch shorter than on other major bike brands. This puts more weight over the rear tire, improving traction when climbing. When we fail to make a real hard offroad climb, it is almost always because we lose traction on the rear wheel. With Genesis geometry, climbing traction is much better, and your climbing success will be demonstrably improved.
Long top tube short stem: As bikes get taller, they get longer, too. Other major bike brands make their bikes longer by using longer and longer stems, resulting in the rider's weight getting progressively moved forward. As the stem gets longer, the rider's weight is shifted forward, so the center of balance between the front and rear wheel gets out of whack--promoting endos. This is a particular problem for any rider over 5' 10". Also, as the stem gets longer and longer, steering responsiveness suffers. Fisher addresses these problems by designing his Genesis frames with longer top tubes and shorter stems. The bikes are less likely to endo, have excellent stability and maneuverability, and respond precisely.
