Freestyle Mountain Bikes
Freestyle mountain bikes are designed differently from "regular" mountain bikes, which we sometimes call "cross country" mountain bikes. Freestyle bikes are for riders who want to tackle ledges, drops, and stunts, so the frames are stronger and designed for greater stability. Cross country mountain bike frames emphasize speed and therefore lightness, and freestyle bike frames emphasize bigger hits and therefore strength. On cross country bikes, you can hope to ride your bike enough to wear out the components. On freestyle bikes, you're more likely to break the components before you wear them out.
Gary Fisher Opie

The Opie is Fisher's introductory freestyle bike. If features the same frame as all Fisher's freestyle hardtails: the Bigg'n, a heavy duty aluminum frame with box section and reinforced tubes. The frame is the most expensive part of this bike, and it is worth upgrading in the future as you break the stock parts. The Opie has an RST Gila Plus T6 fork with preload and 100 mm travel, Shimano Acera rear derailleur, Suntour crankset, Shimano Rapidfire shifting, Tektro brakes, and Bontrager Big Earl 26 x 2.4 tires. MSRP $430, but on sale for $379.95..
