Comfort Bikes
Comfort bikes are much like mountain bikes, having similar shifters, derailleurs, brakes, and wheels, but they are designed more for street use. Features shared by all our comfort bikes include a more upright riding position, suspension seatpost, cushy saddle, low air pressure street style tires, 26" wheels, and adjustable stem. Comfort bikes are great for exercise, around-the-neighborhood, and keeping-up-with-the-kids use. Gearing is relatively low (easy). Comfort bikes work well on groomed trails, like the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail, but for rougher trails a mountain bike is better. Comfort bikes will also work for commuting distances, but since hybrid bikes have higher gearing (faster), a hybrid may be a better choice for longer rides.

The Venture is a simple, comfortable bike that is excellent for exercise and around-the-neighborhood use. Although it has only 7 gears (no front derailleur), the range of gears is reasonably wide. A bike with 21 gears will have a few higher and lower gears, but the real low ones are the only ones you are likely to miss. So if you do not have any big hills in your future, this 7 speed bike might be perfect. The step-through frame is very popular with women. Price under $275, but on sale for $249.95..
Raleigh Venture 3.0
The Venture 3.0 is much like the Venture, except that it has a suspension fork and 21 gears. It is more versatile than the Venture, having a wider range of gears, and the suspension fork makes it more comfortable. Choose this bike if you are concerned about hills, or if you want to go a little faster or further. The Venture 3.0 also comes in a step-through frame. MSRP $320. On sale $295.
